The system has a high pressure circuit (22) for connecting a pump (3) to an injector (7) via a common rail (2). An upstream low pressure circuit (13) connects another injector (1) to a check valve (12). A downstream low pressure circuit (14) connects the check valve to a fuel tank (4). The check valve opposes rise of the fuel tank to the latter injector. Leakage units i.e. nozzles (15), allow leakage of fuel from the downstream low pressure circuit to the upstream low pressure circuit, where the leakage units are arranged with the check valve in a parallel manner. An independent claim is also included for a method for injecting fuel to a common rail of an internal combustion engine.
