The method involves determining a weight of a column (7) that is arranged outside a liquid product reservoir i.e. refrigerant fluid reservoir (6), in a refrigeration installation and is connected to the liquid product reservoir through flexible pipes (70), where the column is maintained using a suspension unit (71). Weight of liquid product i.e. refrigerant fluid (L), contained in the column is calculated. A liquid product level in the liquid product reservoir is determined. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for detecting leakage of pressurized refrigerant fluid in a refrigeration installation or an air-conditioning installation (2) a device for detecting leak of pressurized refrigerant fluid in a refrigeration installation or an air-conditioning installation, comprising a liquid product reservoir's filling level measuring device.
