PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for controlling an operation of booting for a video image reproducing apparatus are provided to manage a flag in a microcomputer to judge the KWV(Kernel Wake-up Vector) and a high speed booting sequence for a high speed booting operation. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an operation of booting for a video image reproducing apparatus comprises the steps of: receiving an input signal which turns off the power of a video reproduction device(210); transferring a memory address which memorizes an operation state of the image reproduction apparatus from a main processor according to the received input signal(220); enabling a sub processor to store the transferred memory address; and switching the mode of a system of the image reproduction apparatus into a sleep mode(230).
