The system has a secondary drive battery i.e. lithium ion battery (6), and a receiving device that is provided for a primary drive battery i.e. zinc air battery (1). The primary drive battery is electrically coupled to a traction net of a motor vehicle e.g. electrical vehicle (5), and/or mechanically coupled to the motor vehicle by the receiving device. The receiving device includes a vehicle-lateral part and a coupled part that includes a battery tray and a cover. The battery tray is closed by the cover, and includes a receiving device that is equipped with the primary drive battery. An independent claim is also included for a method for supplying electrical power to an electrical vehicle or hybrid vehicle.
