Disclosed is an input device that can accept multiple levels of input, in accordance with the size of the area being pressed, in terms of differing amounts of pressure per input from a user. The disclosed input device (10) is characterized by the provision of an area-detection unit (40) that detects the size of the input area being pressed and a control unit (20) that sets a second area criterion, at which a second level of input is accepted, every time the area-detection unit (40) detects an area being pressed that satisfies a first area criterion at which a first level of input is accepted.
