摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strike a balance between high focusing accuracy and satisfactory AF (autofocus) responsiveness when capturing a high resolution image. SOLUTION: The optical apparatus is configured to generate a focal signal by extracting a plurality of frequency bands of signals from output from imaging systems 20-26 and perform autofocus control so that the focal signal approaches a maximum value by moving a focus lens 18. First and second focal signals obtained by combining a first frequency band and a second frequency band lower than the first frequency band of focal signals are used for the autofocus control. The ratio of the first frequency band of focal signal in the second focal signal to all the second focal signals is higher than the ratio of the first frequency band of focal signal in the first focal signal to all the first focal signals. A control means 30 performs first focusing determination by repeating reciprocation of the focus lens in an area including the position of the maximum value of the first focal signal, and then performs second focusing determination by repeating reciprocation of the focus lens in an area including the position of the maximum value of the second focal signal.
