PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a plurality of pieces of copy control information are intermingled. SOLUTION: A recording device includes: a recording and reproducing part which writes and reads copy generation management information, copiable number information and digital information containing copy control information including a recording apparatus ID a recording medium; and a control part which records the copiable number information together with the digital information on the recording medium when the copy generation management information is information which permits recording only for one generation, and performs classification and display by copy control information when displaying a list of digital information recorded in the recording medium. The recording device accumulates the digital information of equivalent contents in a first recording medium and a second recording medium which is different from the first recording medium, and when copying the digital information whose copiable number is a plural number from the first recording medium to the second recording medium, completes copy by changing only the copiable number information of the digital information accumulated in the first recording medium and the second recording medium.
