PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information storage method which stores information using a biochemical substance and easily reads the information. SOLUTION: The information storage method using a porphyrin metal complex includes: a step of determining a combination of two structures from among the respective structures of a monomer, dimer, trimer, and tetramer of the porphyrin metal complex; a step 248 of determining an information writing area on a predetermined metal surface 200 in a predetermined order by each symbol with respect to information 242 coded with binary codes; and a step 246 which forms, by the self collectiveness of the porphyrin metal complex 240, the one of two structures which corresponds to the value of the symbol in the information writing area on the predetermined metal surface 200 determined by the step of determination, by each symbol with respect to the information 242 coded with the binary codes.
