PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly determine braking performance of a braking device. SOLUTION: An operation mode of an elevator control device 10 includes a braking performance confirmation mode for confirming the braking performance of the braking device 4 in the state where no passenger exists in a car 8. In the braking performance confirmation mode, the elevator control device 10 makes emergency stop of the car 8 traveling at a rated speed by the braking device 4, and calculates deceleration and a braking distance of the car 8 based on a signal from an encoder 5. When one of the deceleration and the braking distance of the car 8 exceeds a threshold set in advance, the elevator control device 10 determines that abnormality occurs in braking performance of the braking device 4.
