<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium ion secondary battery having a large capacity per unit volume and capability of charge and discharge of a heavy current, capable of obtaining high charge and discharge efficiency even in the case of a heavy operating current, and electrodes for the lithium ion secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: In this lithium ion secondary battery having a positive electrode and a negative electrode with a separator held between them, and including an inorganic solid electrolyte particle in an electrode mixture layer of either one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode or both, and the contained mass percent m<SB>2</SB>(%) of the inorganic solid electrolyte particle in the thickness up to (t) in the electrode mixture layer from the collector side to the separator side is larger than the contained mass percent m<SB>1</SB>(%) of the inorganic solid electrolyte particle in the thickness up to (t) in the electrode mixture layer from the separator side to the collector side.
