PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier for electrostatic latent image development, the carrier having a concave portion, which has a depth of 100 nm or more and not more than a depth corresponding to the thickness of a resin layer of the carrier and has a circle-equivalent diameter of 90 nm or more and 150 nm or less in an opening portion, and the carrier allowing an external additive transiting from a toner to be unevenly present in the concave portion of the carrier, compared to a carrier having no concave portion as above described. SOLUTION: The carrier for electrostatic latent image development comprises a core material, a resin layer covering the core material, and a concave portion 32 which is open on the surface of the resin layer and has a depth of 100 nm or more and not more than a depth corresponding to the thickness of the resin layer and a circle-equivalent diameter of 90 nm or more and 150 nm or less in the opening portion.
