PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which securely suppresses the emission of volatile substance, and also takes environment and safety into consideration. SOLUTION: The volatile substance removing device 1 includes: an attracting means for attracting a volatile substance generated by the volatile substance generating source 20 of the image forming apparatus; and a discharging means for decomposing the volatile substance by discharging the volatile substance attracting part of the attracting means between counter electrodes 11 and 12. The volatile substance removal device 1 is incorporated in the image forming apparatus. The attracting means includes a cylindrical holder 11, and a large number of fibers 13 mixed with an attracting medium and attached to the periphery of the holder 11. The discharging means includes: a high voltage generating device 10, and the pair of counter electrodes 11 and 12 electrically connected to the high voltage generating device 10.
