<p>In an electrostatic capacity type proximity sensor, a detection-enabled distance is increased in the detection region of the front side so as to reduce the malfunction. A first electrode and a second electrode constitute a capacitor. When a detection object such as a human body approaches the electrodes, the electrostatic capacity between the electrodes is changed and the approach of the detection object can be detected by a change of the electrostatic capacity. The first electrode (1) has a linear shape having a small surface area such as an electric cable. The second electrode (2) has a planar shape having a large surface area such as a flat plate. The linear electrode (1) and the planar electrode (2) are arranged at an interval and the side where the linear electrode is not shaded by the planar electrode is made to be a detection region of the front side. Moreover, behind the planar electrode (2) is arranged a planar shield electrode (8) in parallel to and apart from the planer electrode (2). The shield electrode is grounded.</p> |
