<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clearly specify a method for operating a tissue treating device and to easily verify whether a required reagent is suitable for a prescribed process step by this method or to contribute the production of an appropriate concentration of reagent by a simple technique by this method. <P>SOLUTION: While the tissue treating device (20) is being operated, a reagent is supplied for a retort (sealed container) (22) of the tissue treating device (20) from a container (26), and the retort does not contain any tissue sample. After this, the reagent returns to the container (26). A sensor of the tissue treating device detects a measurement value (AV_CON), a value representing the concentration of the reagent, during feeding and returning and/or between (its supply, feeding, and returning) while (the reagent is) being supplied.
