PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a navigation system which provides a circling route of high versatility. SOLUTION: This navigation system is equipped with: a storage part which stores map data; a position detecting part which outputs detection information on the current position; a control part which detects the current position, using the detection information on the current position, and calculates, using the map data, a guiding route from a point of departure, with the detected current position made this point, to the destination specified by the user (step S4); and a display part which displays the calculated guiding route. When the user gives instructions for a search of an onward route from the point of departure to the destination and a return route thereof, the control part alters the destination specified by the user into a point for going through and calculates the circling route from the point of departure to this point through the destination (step S7).
