PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily focus on a subject at an arbitrary position. SOLUTION: A contrast calculation section 71 calculates a contrast value for each region of a divided image. A focus control section 73 controls movement of a focus position to a focal position corresponding to a region designated by a user, in the focal positions stored for each region and having the maximum contrast value when the user designates a predetermined region in a displayed image.
