PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene which may become functional materials such as coolants, foaming agents, detergents, solvents, etching agents, and aerosol; or physiologically active substances, intermediates of functional materials; and a monomer for polymer compounds. SOLUTION: The production method provides 2-chloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene in a high yield by hydrogenating 1,2-dichloro-3,3,3-trifluoropropene under mild conditions in the presence of "a catalyst that includes a carrier supporting a transition metal and a poisoning substance thereon".
