摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zinc reduction method for refining crude metal silicon to produce silicon for solar cells, wherein the silicon for solar cells is produced in high productivity and a low cost by efficiently treating zinc chloride obtained as a by-product. SOLUTION: In the refining method for silicon for solar cells, silicon tetrachloride purified by removing impurities from crude silicon tetrachloride prepared by chlorinating metal silicon is reduced by being contacted with metal zinc to produce silicon. The zinc chloride obtained as a by-product when the silicon tetrachloride is reduced by the metal zinc is sorted by a level of oxygen contained in the zinc chloride and subjected to processing for obtaining the metal zinc and chlorine by electrolysis or processing for obtaining crude zinc oxide.
