PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which takes a problem that a recorded medium is deformed and broken by a force received from automatically moving edge guides into consideration. SOLUTION: The recording device 1 includes the edge guides (20, 30) for sorting side ends of the recorded media placed on a placing part (11), a determination means (2) for determining whether a current value when driving a motor (77) which moves the edge guides reaches a threshold value or not, and a first position detection means 7 for detecting a position of the top recorded medium in the laminating direction Z of the placed recorded media. When sorting the side ends of the recorded media, the edge guides are moved to the side of approaching the recorded media by the power of the motor while monitoring the current value by the determination means. The motor is stopped when the current value reaches the threshold value.
