The exhaust-gas cleaning system (1) has an exhaust strand (3), in which an exhaust gas outlet of an internal combustion engine (2) in flowing direction of exhaust gases. An intermediate selective catalytic reduction catalyst (8) is arranged in the exhaust strand before an oxidation catalyst (4). A reducing agent placement site (9) is provided for a reducing agent between the exhaust gas outlet and the selective catalytic reduction catalyst. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating exhaust-gas cleaning system.
