The present invention relates to a cooker and to a control method thereof. The present invention determines the status of the foodstuff being cooked in accordance with the rate of change in the size of the foodstuff which is read from the image of the foodstuff being cooked in a cooking chamber, scanned by an image sensor. Consequently, the present invention has advantages in that a user can determine the status of the foodstuff being cooked in a cooking chamber in a more accurate manner.
