The device (10) has a grip element (12), and an actuating linkage (14) for operative connection of the grip element with a lock (13), so that the lock is activatable to open and/or close a flap (11) e.g. driver's door, of a motor vehicle during actuation of the grip element. A crash lock (15) acts on an actuating mechanism during crash of the motor vehicle. The crash lock comprises a chemical propellant (16), which is ignitable for locking action on the actuating mechanism during crash. The crash lock comprises a gas-fillable sleeve element (17).
