<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst capable of developing the excellent catalytic activity of Fe during long-term use under a high temperature or oxidation-reduction change condition while reducing the use of a noble metal element. <P>SOLUTION: Fe is mixed with an oxide containing ceria and/or zirconia to prepare a precursor which is, in turn, baked in an oxidation-reduction atmosphere to obtain the exhaust gas purifying catalyst. Further, in this exhaust gas purifying catalyst, the content of Fe is set to 1-9 wt.%. If this exhaust gas purifying catalyst is used, excellent catalytic activity can be developed at a low cost over a long period of time under a high temperature or oxidation-reduction change condition while reducing the use of the noble metal element because Fe can be used as an active component. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
