<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device that properly protects data to be protected even if the user abruptly turns off a power switch, and also to provide an image forming apparatus equipped with the same. <P>SOLUTION: The power supply device comprises a controller that performs a shutdown sequence, a first power supply unit for generating first power and second power, a power supply switch for turning on/off the supply of the first power to the controller, a switching unit for turning on/off the supply of the second power to the controller, a determination unit that, when the supply of the first power to the controller is turned off by the power supply switch, determines whether or not the shutdown sequence has been finished, and a signal transmission unit that, when it is determined by the determination unit that the shutdown sequence has been finished, sends to the switching unit a switch off signal for turning off the supply of the second power to the controller by means of the switching unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
