PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a front plate for an image display device, which protects an image display portion while transmitting an image displayed on the image display portion of the image display device to the outside, and which makes both characteristics of impact resistance and surface hardness compatible with each other while assuming a single layer structure moldable with a general extruder. SOLUTION: The front plate for the image display device includes as a main component a polymer having a styrene unit and/or a methyl methacrylate (MMA) unit as structural units, wherein a proportion of the MMA unit and a ring structure-containing unit which is a derivative thereof to the total structural units of the polymer is 45 wt.% or more, or a proportion of the styrene unit thereto is 45 wt.% or more, its heat shrinkage at temperature higher than glass transition temperature of the polymer by 30°C is 20-70%, its total light transmittance measured based on JIS K7361-1 is 90% or more, and its thickness is 0.5 to 3 mm.
