PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a speed governor of an elevator for easily and safely performing inspection work by remote control, without providing an inspection opening part. SOLUTION: In this speed governor of the elevator, a sheave 2 is rotatably supported by a frame 10 arranged in a specific height position in a hoistway, and a braking mechanism is arranged for applying braking to a speed governor rope wound on the sheave 2, and the sheave 2 is provided with a flyweight mechanism for rotating by receiving centrifugal force, and a trip mechanism for transferring the braking mechanism to an operation state from a nonoperating state when a rotational quantity of the flyweight mechanism exceeds a predetermined quantity, is interposed between the flyweight mechanism and the braking mechanism, and a remote control device 11 is linked to the trip mechanism.
