摘要 1371350 Measuring state of charge of Ni-Cd cells. VARTA AG 31 Dec 1971 [2 Jan 1971] 61017/71 Heading H1B The state of charge of an Ni-Cd battery is measured and indicated by apparatus responding to the difference between the voltage of a reference electrode and the voltage of the positive Ni battery electrodes, this latter voltage decreasing during- battery discharge. Preferably, the reference electrode is silver giving a voltage of 1170 mV. In the charged state the Ni battery electrode has a voltage of 1320 mV and when 70% discharged has a voltage of 1100 mV. As shown in Fig. 2, the reference electrode 7 is connected to one end of a resistor 9 having its other end connected through a normally-closed switch 11 to the positive battery terminal 5 connected to positive electrodes 1. A voltmeter 12 reads the voltage difference across the resistor and at a desired value it triggers a transmitter 13 to signal that the battery needs recharging.
