The rail (4) has a guiding section (8) e.g. T-profile, for guiding a motor vehicle seat (2), and an attachment base (12) for attaching the rail in a motor vehicle (1). The attachment base comprises a socket for covering a motor vehicle floor mat i.e. carpet, and the guiding section is arranged above the socket. The socket is formed by a lip (22) that is arranged at a distance from the attachment base. The rail is manufactured by an extrusion or casting process, and the motor vehicle seat is slidably or rollably adjustable. An independent claim is also included for a seat arrangement for a motor vehicle.
