PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery which can provide a use voltage lower than a charged voltage, related to the secondary battery. SOLUTION: This secondary battery is characterized by including a cell unit 110 having chargeable/dischargeable battery cells, an external terminal 150 which is electrically connected to the cell unit and formed for charging and discharging the cell unit, and a protection circuit 120 which has a current providing circuit 140 and electrically connects the cell unit and the external terminal. The secondary battery is also characterized in that the current providing circuit 140 comprises a charge passage 141 and a discharge passage 142 which are separated from each other, a voltage lowering unit 144 which is arranged on the discharge passage 142 and lowers an output voltage of the cell unit to the use voltage, and a reverse-current prevention unit 143 which prevents reverse currents on the charge passage and the discharge passage.
