PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shooting game apparatus capable of determining a hit even in a display device other than a CRT. SOLUTION: The shooting game apparatus includes: a display device (10) for displaying a game image; an imitation gun (11) including a CCD camera (111) for imaging a partial area of a display device screen at an aiming position when a trigger is pulled; an invisible light beam deflecting and scanning device (12) for deflecting an invisible light beam emitted from a light source device (121) and scanning on the display device screen; an aiming position calculation circuit (131) for analyzing the output image of the CCD camera of the imitation gun and calculating the aiming position of the imitation gun on the basis of the time at which the invisible light beam passes through the aiming position; a hit determination circuit (132) for determining the match/non-match of the aiming position obtained by the aiming position calculation circuit and a target position displayed on the display device screen; and a game arithmetic unit (13) for controlling the operation of the entire device.
