PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a classification device for particles excellent in classification accuracy and to provide a classification method using the classification device. SOLUTION: The classification device includes: a classification path; a particle dispersion liquid introduction path of which the one end has an opening part for introducing a particle dispersion liquid and the other end is connected with the classification path via a connection part; a transport liquid introduction path of which the one end has an opening part for introducing a transport liquid and the other end is connected with the classification path; and at least one recovery path, for recovering the particles classified by the classification path, of which the one end has an opening part and the other end is connected with the classification path, wherein the flow path width of the connection part is substantially equal to the flow path width of the classification path, and the bottom surface of the recovery path has a shape protruded at the central part of the flow path width.
