PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize the running performance of a fixing member and to suppress the occurrence of deformation of the fixing member near a recording medium outlet of a nip portion between the fixing member and a pressurizing member. SOLUTION: Scrapers 28 are brought into sliding contact with parts near both width-direction edges of a fixing belt 21. This prevents the fixing belt 21 from moving in its width direction, stabilizes the running of the fixing belt 21, and reduces leakage of a lubricant from between the fixing belt 21 and a holding member 22. Further, the scrapers 28 are brought into sliding contact with parts where the fixing belt 21 is deformed significantly in the circumferential direction thereof. Thereby, the width-direction rigidity of the fixing belt 21 suppresses the occurrence of gap and deformation overall in the width direction of the belt 21, that is, not only in the parts with which the scrapers 28 are brought into sliding contact but also the width-direction central area of the belt 21 through which a recording medium passes.
