PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-refouling agent for clothes detergent that has good blending stability in a liquid clothes detergent and has excellent anti-refouling performance even when only a small amount of water is used during laundering, and to provide the clothes detergent that contains the anti-refouling agent for the clothes detergent. SOLUTION: The anti-refouling agent for the clothes detergent includes (A) an alkylene oxide adduct of (a) a phenol novolak resin. The alkylene oxide has 2 to 4 carbon numbers. The weight ratio of the portion of the phenol novolak resin in the alkylene oxide adduct (A) is 10-40 wt.% based on the weight of the adduct (A); the weight ratio of the portion of an oxyethylene group in the adduct (A) is 60-90 wt.% based on the weight of the adduct (A); and the weight ratio of the portion of other oxyalkylene groups in the same is 0-20 wt.% based on the weight of the same.
