PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a decline in image quality when imaging a motion picture by an imaging apparatus with a turret aperture. SOLUTION: When a digital camera 1 having a turret aperture in an imaging unit 100 images a motion picture, if the driving period of the turret aperture to achieve an aperture value determined by an exposure calculating unit 211 is longer than a blanking period determined based on the frame rate of the motion picture, an imaging control unit 212 delays an exposure start timing by an image sensor of the imaging unit 100 by a delay time calculated as a difference between the aperture driving period and the blanking period. In order to compensate for underexposure due to the shortened exposure period, the imaging control unit 212 increases the gain that is an imaging sensitivity. In a next frame that is started after an aperture switching operation is finished, the gain is returned to the original value and imaging is performed. Because of these operations, a decline in image quality that is caused when aperture switching is not finished by the time when exposure starts can be suppressed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
