The present invention relates to a steam generating device and to a cooking appliance comprising the same. In an example of the present invention, a steam generating device comprises: a heating chamber comprising a main chamber body and a chamber cover fastened to the main chamber body, and having a heating space formed between the main chamber body and the chamber cover, a water-supply port for supplying water for steam to the heating space, and a steam-discharge port for discharging steam which is positioned above the water-supply port; and a first steam heater which is inserted into either the main chamber body or the chamber cover, and generates steam by heating the water for steam held in the heating space. Consequently, the present invention has the advantage that it allows relatively efficient cooking using steam.
