The gasifier has a reaction chamber i.e. gasification reactor (1), for gasification of finely milled, ash-containing fuels in an entrained flow during gasification temperatures above an ash melting point. An annular chamber (7) enclosing a cylindrical quench chamber (3) is upwardly arranged for guidance of a partial quenched gasification raw gas. A water bath (6) extends over diameter of the annular chamber. A heat recovery boiler (10) enclosing the annular chamber is downwardly arranged for guidance of the partial quenched gasification raw gas.
