PURPOSE: A method for providing object information and an image pickup device adopting the same are provided to display the information on the object of an external server by transferring the pattern information of an object within a photographed image to an external server. CONSTITUTION: A photographing apparatus photographs a certain object(S210), and receives an information searching command for the photographed object(S220). If the object is recognized in the photographed image, the photographing apparatus extracts the object from the photographed image. If a database for the object information exists in a storage unit, the photographing apparatus searches the information of the object(S250,S260). The photographing apparatus displays searched object information on a screen(S270).
