PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image capturing apparatus that momentarily or intuitively photographs an object of interest of a photographer in a wide space. SOLUTION: The image capturing apparatus 10 includes an imaging means 12 that captures an image by photoelectrically converting an image imaged by an imaging optical system 32 and for output of an image signal, a detection means 14 for detecting the direction 20A of interest attracting the visual interest of the photographer 20, a decision means 16 for setting the direction of an allowable range centering the optical axis 12A of the imaging optical system 32 as comparison information and determining that the direction 20A of interest detected by the detection means 14 matches the comparison information, and a control means 18 for controlling imaging of the imaging means 12 at an imaging timing based on the output from the decision means 16.
