PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic ticket gate apparatus that handles many tickets conveyed with their magnetic recording layers down, and also discharges the next ticket quickly when the ticket is conveyed with the magnetic recording layer up, thereby reducing the total processing time. SOLUTION: The automatic ticket gate apparatus is configured to discharge the next ticket upon completion of reversal operation when magnetic information is read by a read head for reading magnetic information on the ticket having the magnetic recording layer on its top side, and discharge the next ticket upon reading the magnetic information when the magnetic information is read by the read head for reading the information on the ticket having the magnetic recording layer on its under side.
