A multi-roll, esp. 4-roll calender, for coating fabric on both sides with rubber or for drawing plastic sheet, has the upper roll of the upper pair vertically adjustable relative to the lower, both lower rolls vertically adjustable together, and the lower roll of the lower pair vertically (opt. also obliquely) adjustable relative to the one above it, and possesses a common drive for vertically adjusting the two rolls of the lower pair, with a releasable clutch enabling the two rolls to be disconnected from each other.
