PURPOSE: A charging device is provided to improve charging efficiency by controlling a driving duty ratio based on the maximum charging power. CONSTITUTION: A switching controller(32) performs a switching operation according to an input control signal. An output current detection circuit(57) detects a root mean square value outputted from a storage battery as an actual output current. A duty ratio controller(84) conforms the detected current value with a target output current by controlling a duty ratio. A charging current detection circuit(50) detects the current of the storage battery. An instruction supply unit(65) discretely changes the instruction of the target output current.
