<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for an imager capable of performing white balance correction with a sufficient accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: The imager is equipped with a flash capable of emitting light of a known color temperature. At first, the imager takes a photograph of an object under a first photographing condition and captures an object image (first image) with an imaging element without emitting light by the flash, and then, the imager takes a photograph of the object under a second photographing condition and captures the object image (second image) with emitting light by the flash (STs 2-3). Next, a degree of influence is determined for flash light emission in the second image, based on the first image and the second image and based on the first photographing condition and the second photographing condition. Then, based on the degree of influence, color information about the first image and the second image, and the known color temperature, a color temperature is estimated for a light source illuminating the object (ST4). Then, based on the estimated color temperature of the light source, white balance correction is applied to the first image (ST5).
