<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a DPF (diesel particulate filter) of silicon carbide with the reduced number of man-hours, and also, to facilitate control of porosity and pore distribution therein. <P>SOLUTION: Paper-made flat sheets and corrugated sheets are alternately laminated so as to be a honeycomb shape, slurry containing a carbon source and silicon powder is impregnated therein, and it is fired in a nonoxidizing atmosphere, and through a carbonaceous honeycomb body, a honeycomb body of silicon carbide is formed. Since the flat sheets and the corrugated sheets are porous, the cell partition of the formed silicon carbide honeycomb body is made porous as well. Then, by stuffing both the edges alternatively so as to be a checkered pattern, owing to the shape effect of the corrugated sheets, a DPE having a high filtering area can be obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
