<p>Conventional screwdrivers provided with traction drive continuously variable transmissions are configured with a coaxially-disposed drive source, continuously variable transmission, and spindle. In the disclosed power tool, a continuously variable transmission can be used with the spindle being disposed not coaxially, but in a parallel or intersecting state with the output shaft of the drive source. In a disc grinder (30), wherein the spindle (36) to which a grindstone (37) has been attached intersects the output shaft (34a) of an electric motor (34), a three-point pressure-contact continuously variable transmission (1) is mounted between the output shaft (34a) of the electric motor (34) and a bevel gear train (35) for deceleration. Also, a traction grease having a high traction coefficient is used as the lubricant of a traction drive. A grease sump (60) is provided within a transmission case (41) that is devised such that efficient lubrication occurs with little traction grease by felt members (63, 64) contacting the pressure-contact portions, and the like.</p> |
