Reduced sweetness confectionery coating/filling has at least about 25% by weight sugar and a sweetness reducing agent, such as a aromatic-carboxylate salt, while having a moisture content of no more than about 2% by weight. Suitable sweetness reducing agents include, for example, Lactisole(TM). These coatings/fillings can be associated with food items, such as bite sized snack items, cereal bars and baked goods. |
