A fuel level sensing device for mounting to a fuel tank and suitable for sensing a level of LPG in an LPG tank. The liquid level sensor is operable to make level measurements based on a first electrical property, preferably capacitance, inner and outer tubes 19 and 22 providing an elongate level probe 40. The device also includes a separate maximum fill sensor formed, for example, by the upper inner tube end plate 18 and adapter body 28, operable to sense that a predetermined maximum fill level has been reached, the position of each part of the liquid level sensor being independent of the liquid level in the tank. The device preferably includes a fill shut-off mechanism which switches off a pilot valve 38 when it is determined that the maximum fill level has been reached. |
