An invalid lifting device comprises a U-shaped wheeled base supporting a detachable pillar 20, a seat 36 suspended from a jib 27, and a jack 24, 28. The base consists of a pair of arms 10 which are movable about pivots 16 by a lever 361, 37 pivoted at 39, and rods 40. The lever is locked in its adjusted position by a spring catch 46 engaging between teeth on a plate 45, the lever portion 36<SP>1</SP> being rotatable about its longitudinal axis relative to portion 37 to cause a cam (not shown) to disengage the catch from the teeth. Pillar 20 is provided with handle bars 52. The jack is extended by actuating a pump handle 30, and is lowered by opening relief valve 31.</p> |
