FITTING, CRANE HOOK, AND CRANE HOOK ASSEMBLY

A method of lifting an item, such as an aircraft, using a fitting comprising an attachment member and a lifting member which is pivotally coupled to the attachment member. The fitting is lowered into position with the lifting member positioned below the attachment member. The attachment member is then secured to the item and the lifting member is lifted by rotating it about its pivot until it engages the item. The lifting member is then engaged with a crane hook and lifting load is transmitted from the crane hook to the item via the lifting member.
