The invention relates to an electric motor with limited displacement meant for some applications such as actuating apparatuses for electric devices, stands for testing resistance against shocks and vibrations, strikers and others. According to the invention, the motor consists of a "shielded" type mono-phased magnetic system (1), having mounted on a column of the system (1), a fixed coil consisting of two sections (2 and 2;) and a mobile coil (3) in short-circuit, which is integral with a slide (6) which slides on a guide axle (5), the two sections (2 and 2') of the fixed coil being supplied successively, from a source of alternating current, by means of two switches (7 and 7').
