摘要 The invention relates to machinery engineering, in particular, to engine engineering. The invention is aimed at enhancing power density and efficiency of a diesel engine operation, reducing smokiness and toxicity of exhaust gases by improving characteristics of fuel injection and also making simpler a method of controlling fuel injection rate and a device therefor. The inventive task is characterized in that controlling fuel injection rate is carried out by decreasing partly space of injection cavity emptied by a metering plunger at an injection stroke of an injecting plunger, wherein the space is partially emptied by the metering plunger effected by fuel pressure in the injection cavity and the value of emptied space is measured by displacement of the metering plunger stroke limiter. Besides, a device for controlling injection rate of a high-pressure fuel pump is provided with a metering plunger capable to reciprocating motion in a cylindrical seat pressed by a spring arranged in the cylindrical seat to one of its ends, wherein at the other end of the cylindrical seat the metering plunger stroke limiter is arranged therein capable for displacement along the axis of the metering plunger, wherein the space of the cylindrical seat and the stroke limiter thereof is connected via a channel to a low-pressure system, and the opposite end of the cylindrical seat space to which the metering plunger is pressed by a spring is connected to an injection pump space.
